
ABOUT CHARLESTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
The Charleston Horticultural Society (CHS Hort) was organized in December 1999 by Charlestonians who recognized a need for a horticultural resource center. CHS Hort is an outgrowth of the Charleston Garden Festivals that were held from 1994 through 1998. Charleston Horticultural Society was granted 501 (c)3 status in 2001.
With membership open to all, CHS Hort has grown to more than 1,300 individual and business/organization members with extensive educational outreach programs that include our signature lecture series, distinctive garden tours, seasonal workshops, the CHS Hort Bloom children’s education program, Plantasia, and our CHS Trident Tech Scholarship program among other programs.

The Charleston Horticultural Society provides quality educational programming that supports efforts, both big and small, to create beautiful, sustainable green spaces; fosters community partnerships; and preserves our legacy of horticulture in the South Carolina Lowcountry.

CHS Hort’s Board of Directors make up the leadership of our non-profit organization, offering guidance and a dedicated volunteer spirit that guides the direction of the organization.
