Bartlett Tree Research Lab Tour

Take a road trip this spring and join us for an expert guided tour of the Bartlett Tree Research Lab in Charlotte, NC.

We will begin our day at 9:30am with a continental breakfast at the Bartlett Research facility. From there, we will tour the facility and grounds with Bartlett lab and arboretum scientists and staff. Lunch will be provided and the tour will conclude at 1:30pm. Tour highlights include:

*Tour of state of the art diagnostic lab

*Tour of research plots used in worldwide arboricultural applications

*Plots showing examples of different pruning techniques including: Espalier, Pollarding, Peaching, Structural and more.

*Touring the extensive plant collections throughout the property.

About The Bartlett Research Arboretum

Through the rolling 350 acres of property in Charlotte, North Carolina, you will discover an incredible and diverse collection of plants, gardens and research grounds that is the Bartlett Tree Research Laboratory and Arboretum. With over 20,000 accessioned plants a few of the Arboretum highlights include one of the best collection of oak and conifer on the east coast, the biggest collection of magnolia in the country as well as extensive collection of holly, elm, crape myrtle, crabapple, maple, rhododendron and numerous display gardens. In addition to the collections and research, areas several ponds, natural areas and woodland nestled throughout the Arboretum provide a home to a variety of wildlife.

The Bartlett Tree Research Laboratories and Arboretum is actively developed, curated and managed to support learning, discovery, research, and training and to serve as a resource and support arm to the employees and customers of The Bartlett Tree Expert Company. The Arboretum seeks to contribute to and showcase a wide range of plant material as well as set an example of a sustainable, enjoyable and thought provoking living museum. In addition, working alongside and collaborating with the public horticulture community and green industry is a crucial component to the mission of the Arboretum.

Come a day early and join us on Wednesday, May 4th at 1pm or 2pm for a guided tour of Wing Haven.

Nestled in a mostly residential area, Wing Haven is home to three exquisite gardens, including the Elizabeth Lawrence property. Guided tours have been arranged for 1pm and 2pm and will last approximately two hours.

About Wing Haven

Just a few generations ago two extraordinary women named Elizabeth lived and gardened just down the street from one another. Together, they made Ridgewood Avenue in Charlotte, North Carolina, one of the most famous addresses in Southern garden history. Their legacy continues with the addition of an outdoor exploration garden to enhance our guest experience.

The property of Elizabeth and Edwin Clarkson, Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary, is a respite for birds and other wildlife and a welcoming place to discover the beauty and wonders of nature.

Ten houses down on the same side of the street, the property of internationally celebrated garden writer Elizabeth Lawrence, the Elizabeth Lawrence House & Garden, is a dynamic living laboratory featuring an amazing variety of plants with something in bloom every day of the year.

Adjacent to Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary, is the SEED Wildlife & Children’s Garden, an outdoor exploration and learning garden for children of all ages.

Together, these vibrant historic and newer properties are known as Wing Haven, a unique destination that inspires passion for the natural world.

Tour cost does not include transportation, lodging or meals outside of those described above.

Bartlett Tour only is $100, Wing Haven is an optional $15 add on. If you choose the Wing Haven option, please indicate in the which time you prefer. If no preference selected, we will assign you a time.
