Digging Deeper 2022
Class maximum 18 attendees
Many CHS Hort members who completed our highly respected and popular Docent Course, now in its 18th year, have requested a Part II, continuing education, or graduate type of follow up course. For the third year now we are pleased to offer our advanced educational course Digging Deeper. This course will meet four times in the month of March 2022 on Tuesday afternoons with an optional add-on event throughout the course’s run. The program will be taught by our Docent Course instructors Susan Epstein and Beverly Rivers.
Our purpose with this course is to highlight the multi-functional value of our residential gardens. In addition to a garden’s beauty and the satisfaction it brings to us, we will explore its essential contribution to rebuilding top soil, promoting healthy and diverse microbial activity under the ground, understanding how plants and insects to work together to combat disease, and how we can begin now to build corridors, garden to garden to welcome and support wildlife. Our backyards are our opportunity to multiply the positive contributions of our public parks and make a singular difference in the challenges presented from climate change. Today’s knowledge gained through the science of agricultural and horticultural study dictates a new approach to our work with the soil and plants we choose. We too must change our approach and old habits and this course will get you started.
The course includes one optional day long instructional garden trip to enhance our study as well.
